An innovation to communication – that is how VoIP had made impact to the telephone and internet world. But what is VoIP and what does the abbreviation stands for? VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is a form of communication, which instead of using a typical analog telephone line, uses the power of broadband internet to make calls over a computer digitally.

Analog Telephone Adaptor is the simplest form of Void using the ATA device. The device connects to a standard wired phone in to a computer for VoIP to use. The ATA will convert the analog data into a digital data, where the converted digital data from the analog data on the phone are transmitted over the internet.

IP Phones/VoIP Phone These are specialized phones which are connected directly to the router or the computer network.  IP phones may operate VoIP calls having a base station connected to the internet or through local wireless network (for dedicated Wi-Fi phones).

Computer to Computer (Soft phones) This service allows you to call from one computer to another without extra fees or low-cost fee no matter where you are in the world.It is the easiest way to use VoIP service with just the need of a microphone and speaker (also headset), a sound card and a software application. The software application has a service called “softphones” which will provide you the VoIP phone calls.

The equipments you need are basically available at your home. You just need to download the software, install for few minutes, and explore how to use it, then invite a friend and call her.
